Feed AdditivesPerstorp expresses its ambition in specialty chemicals with the motto Winning Formulas

Our company

When one plus one is three

There are times when the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. This is the case with Perstorp feed additives. When Perstorp acquired Franklin Products International based in the Netherlands, two well-established companies in the feed industry merged to become Perstorp Performance Additives – a business unit better equipped to satisfy the needs of those involved with feed, from feed mills to farmers.

Perstorp and Franklin

Perstorp is a supplier of formic and propionic acid, important raw materials for feed additives based on organic acids. Furthermore Perstorp is a major supplier of organic salts and silage additive to the agriculture sector. The acquisition gave Perstorp a comprehensive product portfolio and strengthened the position of Perstorp on the fast growing organic acid feed additives segment. The fast growth is driven by the ban of use of non-prescribed antibiotics in EU that was enforced from January 2006. Blends including organic acids have proven to be a very successful alternative to these antibiotics.

Franklin, now called Perstorp Waspik, has its base in the Netherlands. It is a medium sized company with 40 own employees. Perstorp Waspik has a wide distribution network and its strengths lie in its broad product portfolio of the specialty products. The acquisition by Perstorp was driven by its high level of expertise and focus on R&D. The takeover by Perstorp enabled Franklin to maintain a steady growth in sales of the acid based feed additives. The company has achieved double digit growth figures over the last five years and is highly ranked among the specialty blenders.
